‘Meet Me In Silence’ is my third book in a row. Love poetry is fundamentally a graphic detail of delicate feelings of two human beings. Love poems fascinate its readers.

As if blunt invitation of bliss.

‘Dew and Moonlight’ is my second anthology which has been published by amazon Kdp. As the title suggests this book is a collection of love poems.

Understandably, love is a universal theme of all books of poetry. One has to acknowledge that love tends to speak through mouths of poets. Besides, romantic narratives also intrigue the readers.

‘Dew and Moonlight’ paints the moods of lovers and their anguish. The book opens with love lyric ‘Ode to beloved’ which l posted here on my site before its publication on amazon. This poem is highly romantic and amuzing too. Poet has used ‘twirling star’ as a mmetaphor of beloved as lover addresses his paramour using this metaphor. This poem paints frenzy of love at its best.

I’ve been inspired by Shakespeare, Rod Mckuen and Walter Whitman style. Mkuen blunt expression adds to the beauty of his love poems. I believe that love is good and else is evil.’Good bye’ is ironically sarcastic poem. The way the poet addresses the sadistic beaty is enthralling. Moments of festivity and shock are vividly described with graphic details. ‘Dew and Moonlight’ is a beautiful title to read.

A Treat Of Nature

At mid night,
when I was lost in
cumber some memories,
The wind
elegantly stepped towards me.
She smiled
and tickled me.
Frolicsomely,
she dishevelled my hair.
Naughtily,
she kissed my cheeks.
Her rythmic
breathing was a great pleasure.
I felt lethargic
and she lulled me to sleep.
Oh,Nature
you are a great joy!

Anthology of poems ‘Virgin Rhymes’ written by Muhammad Bilal, is a great appeal to pleasure seekers. Poet has extraordinarily succeeded in arousing readers’ interest. The book is a compendium of vivid imagery, metaphors and personification. And lyricism adds to the beauty of love poems.
‘Virgin Rhymes’ opens with highly symbolic poem ‘Dark Beach’ . Poet presents Vivid images of seascape deploying oceanic vocabulary. ‘Murky twilight’ , ‘treacherously calm bay’ and ‘ waves furtively ebbed away’, are fantastic images that fascinate the readers. Tone of the poem is sombre. ‘Existence’ is a highly philosophical poem. Poet creates powerful effect on his readers using an image of ‘flickering flame’ which is a simile of his own self. ‘Bafflement’ is a treasure of literary devices. Phrases like’ Life leaning against tree’ and ‘creepily stares at me’, amuses the readers. Personification of life, in this poem, is presented superbly by the poet. Effect is further enhanced with the use of adjectives, ‘unkempt and freakish’. The atmosphere of this poem is full of mystery and awe. ‘Bafflement’ is written in free verse,nevertheless, poem succeeds in retaining its rhythm. Students of poetry must be inspired by poetic imagination. The same pattern of imagery and metaphorical language can be witnessed in ‘Dead March Of Evil’.
Lyricism of love poems is a great joy for readers. ‘A Tale Of Romance’ is a magical love poem composed in couplets. This is really an unforgettable love lyric. This love narrative arouses exotic feelings in the reader. This is highly imaginative poem – a fairy tale – whose tone becomes melancholy towards the end.

What promted me to publish this blog about my book ‘Virgin Rhymes’, published by Kdp amazon, was nothing but a sudden urge to explicate the various features of the book to my audience as it appeals to the individual instincts and impulses of readers according to their own area of interest in poetry.

To tell the historical perspective in which the book was composed, I maintain that I started and completed ‘Virgin Rhymes’ amidst the frenzy of pandemic. Arguably, some of my poems’ tone might be depressed as the then macabre-ridden contemporary landscape must have haunted the imagination of poet. Hence, the poems ‘dead march of evil’, and ‘cemetery’ are an out come of a sort of morbid fears caused by corona out break.While aesthetic impulse of the author, contrarily, persuades him to admire beauty of nature and to portray the desires and cravings of lover. The readers would agree with me that love is sensual – a physical pleasure. Man’s mortal body and his immortal soul seek physical pleasure – a commonplace worldly wisdom – which is essentially instinctive, apart from its being wicked or otherwise. Love is received and reciprocated only through senses. A staple part of ‘Virgin Rhymes’ is dedicated to universally acclaimed topic of love, which has seduced Shakespeare, Keats, Yeats and T.S. Eliot and many other writers of all ages and genre. Love is a blunt and blatant phenomenon.

When love is exclusively instinctive and a physical pleasure then why this divine aspect is classified under sensual and non sensual? I found my self down in dumps, encountering linguistic implication of labelled phrase ‘sensual love’ which implies wicked love for many. Indeed, this is stuff and nonsense, yes. Sensual love and eroticism are mistakenly juxtaposed which can,in no way, be endorsed.

A staple part of ‘Virgin Rhymes’ has been dedicated to events of tender feeling. ‘Gorgeous Miss’, ‘Sweet Dreams’, ‘Only Hi’, ‘If only you could not be my friend’, ‘Sculpture’ Sweet Sorrows’, ‘Cage’, and many others delineate experiences of love fantatically. Love poems are rhymed , therefore, they are lyrics. ‘Only Hi’ is a beautiful song, and a singer should sing it: ‘

‘After a long wait she sent only ‘hi’. She is no cheat, and love no past time. Then why? After a long wait she sent only ‘hi’. Elegant lyricism adds to the beauty of this lyric. Poet,in this very short poem, creates stunning effect, deploying image of flickering flame of kindle to interpret existence of man. This poem stands eminent among the thought provoking poems on account of its terseness and supreme metaphorical language. To me this poem is a master piece. ‘Bafflement’, is yet another such piece , which presents life as a personification of a traveller to deepen the thought amidst an atmophere of intriguing mystery.

‘Leaning against the leafless tree of my garden,in the backyard of my house on a gloomy evening, life creepily stares at me as if to tell tale of journey.’

The third part includes poems that mirror to social evils. ‘A Scavenger Boy’ is a good example of this. ‘Virgin Rhymes’ versatility is further emphasised by poem ‘A Woman’. Though these poems are written in free verse yet they retain rhythmic quality. Modern poetry lovers aspire to read poems written on various themes that describe the socio – economic conditions of contemporary society. The poems, reflecting socio – economic conditions of people – though their tone is depressed – are still a great poetic pleasure. I quote some lines here:

On a murky cold evening A scavenger youth – shabby and famished – Scavenges dust bin for his Fortune. ( A scavenger Boy) ‘Virgin Rhymes’ as a book inspires and allures its readers because it tends to present thought and emotoin symultaneously.

Conclusively, ‘Virgin Rhymes’ is a book worth reading.
